Social music platform SoundCloud recently announced their intentions to create a simpler, faster, and more interactive platform for their fast growing user base – which is now 15 million strong.
“Over the past few years we’ve been championing the need to unmute the web and have signed up over 15 million sound creators in the process,” said CEO Alexander Ljung.
“Today we are pushing further towards that goal by launching a private beta of the Next SoundCloud, which delivers a simpler, faster, more social sound platform to help everyone appreciate sound more.”
SoundCloud’s new interface will have features aimed at improving the user experience, emphasizing social interaction. Redesigned user profiles with real-time updates make sharing activity with friends easier and more organized. The most notable improvement of the new design is the waveform player, which allows you to continually play music while exploring and navigating the website.

“Next SoundCloud has been re-engineered from the inside out,” said CTO Eric Wahlforss. “It’s much more than an aesthetic change. By making use of state of the art technologies available in the latest generation browsers, we’ve created a technology platform that enables us to provide a much better user experience and develop new features faster.”
