Yesterday at HOT 97′s Summer Jam Concert (East Rutherford, New Jersey) various artists hit the stage to perform for a crowd of over 60,000 people. Missing from the line-up was Nicki Minaj, who canceled her performance after comments made by HOT 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg early on in the day.

Here is video footage of Peter Rosenberg’s comments that caused Nicki Minaj to cancel her performance at Summer Jam. While Rosenberg was introducing Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q, he called her single “Starships” bullshit.

Lil Wayne took to his Twitter saying Young Money will not be at Summer Jam and Nicki Minaj and YMCMB backed him up.

It is rumored that Nicki was going to bring out an all-star group of artists for her performance. This included Lil Wayne, Cam’ron, Birdman, Nas, 2 Chainz and more. It goes without saying that a big piece of the concert was missing.

Funkmaster Flex stood behind Hot 97 and sent some shots at Nicki Minaj during his DJ set and will be going on a rant tomorrow during his show. He even went as far to say he was going to end Nicki’s career!

After all was said and done, Peter Rosenberg hit Twitter to defend his opinion. This isn’t the first time he’s dissed the song – frequently criticizing “Starships” on-air.

Who do you think is wrong here? Could this have been handled better? Are you still a Nicki Minaj fan? This was a huge letdown for all the paying fans who expected to see her perform – especially in her home state of New Jersey. Nas stood in for Nicki performing several songs, while he was originally just a feature guest.
